We Need More Power

"POWER!!!" (woo-ha-ha-ha) This single desire is the root of all kinds of evil. Think about the villains you have seen in movies, books, history and your life and the common denominator for all is that someone (including ourselves) wants more power for themselves to do what they want and to be who they want to be.

The original sin had its roots in the desire to be like God. Adam and Eve were disobedient to God by eating the forbidden fruit reasoning that they too would be like God. It was not enough that God had provided for all their needs through His power. That decision separated them from God. Today, we are no different.

We are given clear instructions through God's Word and supplied with the power of the Holy Spirit to live lives of abundant love, peace, and joy. Why is it that we fail to receive this? It is our pride and desire to be self-sufficient from God. It is our flesh that was born in sin and is naturally defiant to God that destroys our lives and contributes to the destruction of all around us.

The desire for more power is real. We do need more power in our lives to do and be who we are created to be. When we make the decision to choose and trust in God, we will experience real power and live as He intended.

GOD IS OMNIPOTENT (ALL-POWERFUL)

God has unlimited authority, influence, and power. He does all He desires and plans to do. God’s powerful Word spoke creation into being from nothing. God is the source of all power whether it is the energy found in the universe or the authority of people and governments to rule on earth. His power holds the stars in the sky andsustains human lives. God’s power sustains everything and it will end when He determines.

Nothing can stop God. God always wins. Evil and death will be destroyed. God has promised a day that He will raise all His children to a life that does not end, and God has the power to keep His promise. All will come to pass in His will.

Genesis 1:31 NIV

God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning - the sixth day.

Romans 13:1 NIV

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that God has established. That authorities that exist have been established by God.

Hebrews 1:10-12 NIV

He also says, "In the beginning, Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed."

Revelation 22:12-13 NIV

Look, I AM coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
