Our Efforts & God’s Will

Proverbs 16:9 says, 'In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.' If you are like me, you have and are living a life that you can frustratingly agree with this proverb. How many times have we decided to do something and then found that the results were outside of our control? How many times have we taken credit for the success and failures of our plans?

In the Bible you will find that constantly people make decisions and take action to get what they want. Sometimes they get what they wanted and sometimes they do not. In the times that they get what they want do you think that God is blessing them? What about when they do not get what they wanted, is God against them? Are your plans always based on what is best for you and others? How can you be certain if your desire is also God's will?

My friend, the only way we can know that we are in God's will is by first going to Him in prayer and reading His Word related to all circumstances in life. We must seek His counsel and be obedient to His instructions. Please be encouraged and accept the peace God gives us today in trusting Him in all your desires, plans and actions.

GOD IS SOVEREIGN

God is the supreme ruler and has final say in all matters for all time. All powers, nations and people are under His reign. God graciously gives all people free will to choose to trust in His provisions for the quality of their life today and for eternity. God has created all laws of life and He lovingly provides for our needs. He allows the natural results to occur in the world and in our lives, however He intervenes as He desires in order to accomplish His plans.

God the Son, Christ Jesus, is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. God the Father gives the Son complete judgment of His creation. He is just and will righteously judge all people based on His holiness. All people that put their trust in Him with their lives will be found to be righteous because of the work that only Christ Jesus has done.

Matthew 6:25-34 NIV

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much clothe you - you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
