No Hiding, Seek God

I remember growing up playing hide and seek with my friends and playing "you go hide and I will go watch TV" with my little brother and sister. The game is played by one person or group of people hiding and then have a person go out to find those trying their best to disappear into the shadows so that they are not found. That's it. Pretty simple rules and it is interesting that anyone even playing for the first time understands how to hide.

I think this demonstrates one of our natural tendencies brought on by sin. Sure, we are talking about a child's game with hide and seek, however we have all sought after a dark place or secret place that we think no one will see us to commit acts that we know morally are wrong. Along with that hiding and sin comes the excitement of trying to get away with it or the selfish pleasure that comes with it. Yet, we are all made in the image of God and His moral standards are placed inside of us. When we judge ourselves based on God's Law, we know that we are guilty and will be punished.

Yes, we deserve God's wrath when we sin. Thankfully, God is slow to anger and quick to forgive all that repent from their sins and accept Christ Jesus as their Savior and Redeemer. So, there is no need to hide. God is with you at all times and He is ready to give you new life!

GOD IS OMNIPRESENT

God is present everywhere. God is present in all places that exist at all times. God is there when we feel close to Him and He is there when we feel we are far away. Yes, God is there as He gives us physical life at the instance of conception and He is there when our physical body dies.

God is in all spiritual places as well. He sits on His throne sovereign overall. He indwells all that have accepted Christ Jesus as Savior. He is also in the darkest places of evil protecting us from total destruction giving us free will to choose our eternal home.

God is omnipresent and there is no place in this life that we can be or go without Him being there for us.

Psalm 139:1 - 18 NIV

O Lord, You have searched me and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in - behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for the darkness is as light to You. For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
