A Father’s Love

If you are like me, you come from a broken home. About 50% of marriages in America end in divorce. Recent surveys show that 1 in 4 children today live in a home without a father. In homes that do have a father - biological, stepfather, foster care and adoptive - they are all humans that are not perfect and are flawed in some way. As children, we all look to our fathers to learn about life and how we are to behave, good or bad, based on their decisions.

It is within reason that our response to fathers and fatherhood to be greatly influenced from our own experience. I hope for you, that it is good. Thank and praise the Father God for your human father. For us that have experienced hardships, some severe, I implore you to recognize that your human father is like you and me. We are broken from our sin and must rely on our heavenly Father to save us, teach us and restore us to be holy as He is holy.

Do yourself some good and forgive your human father for his errors. Then, rejoice that your Father God adopts you as His son and daughter. He loves, instructs and provides all for you and is the holy example that we all should strive to be like.

GOD IS FATHER

God is Father. God is the original source of life; without Him nothing exists. God is the leader of all and no one nor nothing is above Him. God's teachings are good and prosperous for all that learn and apply His wisdom. God's decisions and judgements are perfect and final, nothing nor no one can change or overrule Him.

God adopts all people as His children when we accept Christ Jesus as our Savior making us righteous with God the Father. God is our protector keeping us from the evil one and He will never give us over to him. God provides for all of our needs and blesses us with our good desires. God disciplines us when we need correction in order to be put back on the best course for our lives. God's love and sacrifices for us are deeper than we will ever know. God is the standard that all men that have been given the privilege to be a father should rely on in order to be like Him.

1 John 3:1-3 NIV

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure.

Hebrews 12:7-10 NIV

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as His children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined - and everyone undergoes discipline - then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we all have had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in His holiness.

Matthew 5:48 NIV

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
