How Much Sugar Do You Need?

So, the quick answer is that you do not need any refined sugar. That is your body does not need any sugars that are manmade and that are not naturally found in unprocessed foods. So here is a quick test for you as you eat and drink:

  • Does it taste sweet? If yes ...

  • Is it naturally found in God's creation like fruit, milk and honey?

  • No = do not consume it Yes = limit the amount

These God given sugars are carbohydrates. Carbohydrates provide the body with easy to process calories for energy. When your body breaks down foods containing carbohydrates it makes glucose and then it can enter your bloodstream and be distributed to your cells. Some glucose is needed for the brain, central nervous system, and red blood cells to function properly.

Too much sugar in your diet, even natural food sugars, can cause your glucose levels to rise causing serious problems in your body. Diseases that are linked to too much sugar intake include: diabetes, heart disease, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, damaged retina, muscle and nerve damage. Also, too much sugar contributes to dementia, tooth decay, inflammation, aging skin, overeating, larger waist size and obesity.

God has created your body to be restored and maintained as you do your part in making good choices in your diet. If your body has some of these conditions listed above, it is important that you pray to God for healing and to work with your doctor in the process of healing. It is also vital that you only consume what is pure and help yourself to heal.
